You are standing outside your own place — key lost, left inside, or turning without catching — and nothing you try moves the bolt.

Staff are waiting on the pavement, the shop cannot trade, and the one keyholder is unreachable or the key no longer turns.

The vehicle is locked and the keys are inside or missing. Explain where it is parked and who can authorize access.

The key turned, something gave, and now half of it is in your hand and the other half is inside the lock.

Someone forced the entry — the strike is torn, the bolt is bent, the cylinder is punched through — and the place will not secure tonight.

The key enters but will not turn, or turns without moving the bolt. The cause has not yet been assessed.

Your keys are gone — dropped, taken, or simply lost — and every lock they open is now a question mark.
